Kids Konnection

Support Program for Children

Each day, 43 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer. At this time, Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio, Inc., is the only local nonprofit providing hands-on support programs for children and their families through our Kids Konnection program. We have worked with patients as young as 6 months old.

We provide children and their families with a variety of services, including:

  • Personal assessments for each patient and family
  • An individualized program based on the patient’s needs through his or her cancer experience
  • A Holistic Medicine program that helps to counteract the side effects of treatment
  • Hospital visits by our volunteers and therapy dog, Porschia
  • Mentoring for parents by someone who has already been through it
  • Accompaniment to physician appointments as an advocate and friend
  • Weekly check-in phone calls to offer support and encouragement
  • Family Support Group meetings held monthly
  • Mobile art classes for children in the hospital
  • Chemo buddy, a volunteer who will provide companionship to a child receiving chemotherapy

If your child has been diagnosed with cancer, please know that you do not have to go through this journey alone. There are resources that exist to help you, and we are here to provide whatever support we can to you and your family.
