Holistic Therapy is a form of healing that considers the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—in the quest for optimal health and wellness. When one part is not working well or in conjunction with each other, it is believed to affect the whole person. Holistic Therapy focuses on the whole person rather than just on the illness or part of the body that is not healthy.
Holistic Nutrition considers the effects food can have on the whole body. Many “diets” concentrate on losing weight or gaining muscle, holistic nutrition creates a way of eating that feeds your entire body and works to create strength and long term wellness. This can be especially important to a cancer patient going through, or having gone through cancer treatment.
At Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio, Inc., we use Holistic Therapy Education/Nutrition Counseling. We look at a patient’s lab work, medications, surgical procedures, type of chemotherapy and frequency, radiation therapy and frequency, along with the side effects being experienced. Taking all of this into consideration, we work with the patient to achieve the best possible balance for what he or she is missing.
Individual Consultation – meet with clients to assess their situation and recommend the appropriate therapies for their side effects and long term health.
Spiritual Guidance – Counseling by a non-denominational ordained minister.
End of Life – including last rites, visits to hospital, home, hospice and memorial services.
Nutrition Counseling – an assessment of a clients current eating patterns and recommendations for changes to help in working with therapy side effects and a long term health plan.
